Aaah, it’s that time of the year… Well, besides the holidays, it’s that time when Pantone releases the “Color of the Year” and event professionals from all over the world impatiently wait for the magic number… This year it is 17-5641 – Emerald!
I love this “lively, radiant, lush green” as Pantone describes it. And the choice couldn’t be more appropriate for 2013: ”The most abundant hue in nature, the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally-appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”
Jewel toned weddings and events have been around for a while and I recently designed an inspiration board for one of my dessert tables in November, below (I will post pictures of that table soon!)
The board included a vibrant emerald green that is part of Gucci‘s Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. You can see how the emerald green stands out, definitely a big winner! Thanks Pantone! Now let your imagination go…
