Photography They're Engaged!

Meet Christina and Bret

We’re getting close to the end of the year… I can’t believe it’s already December! My last wedding of the season will be on December 28 and I’m very excited about it: Christina and Bret will get married at the Paradise Point Resort and we have great plans with a vibrant palette of red, white and silver.

Christina and Bret are one of my favorite couple of 2013: when we met a few months ago we immediately clicked and I just love their enthusiasm and great energy.

Today I want to share some of Christina and Bret’s engagement pictures. A huge THANK YOU to  Laura Christin Photography for capturing their love for each other so well. I think these images are amazing!

Postcards from Italy – Giuli & Giordi Photography

I’m so glad to see a new wave of professional photographers in Italy. A great example is husband and wife team Giuli & Giordi. One of their weddings, Alice + Andrea was recently featured on Snippet & Ink and it was absolutely fabulous.

Everything about Giuli & Giordi is fresh and happy, including their logo and website…

… And I love how they style and tell beautiful stories, like the one of Sara + Fico with a romantic picnic at the beach on a February afternoon.

Here’s the fun stop-motion animation of the engagement shoot:

Giuli & Giordi also offer a “Smile-Set” photo booth. Take a look at how lucky we Italians are with the natural scenery as backdrop!

What I liked about… Phoebe and Chris’ wedding

Estancia La Jolla is one of my favorite locations for memorable weddings. Phoebe and Chris chose the gorgeous resort for their reception last June, with the ceremony at the Chinese Community Church in Tierrasanta.

Phoebe’s color palette was a chic lavender and silver with orchids and roses. Look at her stunning bouquet!

She made the ceremony programs and the escort cards, all matching her favorite colors.

The ballroom looked wonderful with tall, romantic centerpieces.

Phoebe and Chris’ first dance was a surprising tango that wowed all of their guests. And that purple dress was to die for!

I was honored to be part of their wedding celebration and I wish them a lifetime filled with LOVE!

Thanks to the uber-talented David Champagne for the images!

You can see more pictures from the wedding on my website and read Phoebe’s thank-you note.

The art of wedding photography, Italian style

I’m proud to be a wedding professional and to work with amazing people, and I’m even more proud to be Italian when I see the work of my friend Mauro Pozzer, a wonderful photographer from Vicenza who travels all over the world to capture the most memorable moments for his couples. Mauro is a member of Best of Wedding Photography, the premier invitation-only association for the world’s top wedding photographers.

Let me show you some of his work and you will understand why I’m such a big fan of Mauro’s – being Italian like me is one of the reasons! April and Sam decided to celebrate their love with three small weddings in their favorite locations (Bali, Venice and San Francisco), and they hired Mauro as their exclusive photographer.

Fall in love with this couple at their wedding in Venice last September and be enchanted by their San Francisco celebration that took place a few weeks ago, followed by a “trash the dress” session. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Thank you Mauro for these incredible images!

What I liked about… Margherita and Damion’s wedding

Margherita is a true Italian beauty. I had the privilege to help Margherita plan her wedding to Damion and it was a wonderful day. Both ceremony and reception took place at The Handlery Resort on a warm and sunny day in March.

Her bouquet was a gorgeous combination of cream, green and violet pink roses and hydrangeas by Tessfresh Flowers. Note the handle wrapped in lace and the beautiful brooch.

Escort cards were all handmade by Margherita’s crafty bridesmaids with purple and lime green card stock. Each card had a flower in different colors that indicated the entree selection.

Amber lighting in the ballroom created a marvelous ambiance, and the monogram gobo by extraordinary DJ Daniel Peterson (who entertained the crowd all night!) was a great focal point.

What a spectacular cake by Grove Pastry Shop! Decorated in the wedding colors, it featured an intricate lace design that matched Margherita’s bouquet and a dark plum ribbon.

Favors (or bomboniere, as we call them in Italy) were a true work of art: perfumed sachets ordered from Italy and wrapped in purple silk with a delicate bloom and a personalized tag for each guest.

Thanks to the marvelous DeShun and Yasmine of Dapper Images for the images!!!

You can see more pictures from Margherita and Damion’s wedding on my website, and read thank-you notes on my Fan Mail Blog.

Congratulations to Margherita and Damion, and best wishes for a happy life together!

Gorgeousness at The Prado

The Prado is among my super-favorite venues in San Diego, and I’m very excited to share these pictures with you today.

I teamed up with amazing professionals to create a vibrant atmosphere with an orange, bright pink, green and white palette in the Sala Del Rey last April.

We transformed the long wooden table into an irresistible tablescape with the cutest cake ever and delicious cupcakes by CAKE (I love Kimberly!), floral arrangements to die for by Sharon at Organic Elements (visit her website and fall in love with her creations!), and Courtney at Brightly Designed put the finishing touches with labels and tags that matched the bright palette (her creativity is incredible!!!).

Take a close look at the bright pink lace detail of her tags: the same motif was incorporated into the cake decoration. An absolute work of art!

I designed each individual place setting with glossy peridot trays, decorated glass dessert plates and taffeta napkins in orange and pink shades. I also created fun ribbon wands for guests to take home (see the tutorial HERE), and I added a mini candy station with gummy orange slices, yogurt pretzels and a berry mix of Jelly Belly jelly beans. Mint-lemon iced tea was served during the lovely luncheon. My adorable French intern, Diane also helped me with setup that day.

Suzanne and Mike from SheWanders were the inspiration behind this small and intimate event and they captured all the details so perfectly, THANK YOU!

Desserts in Style: Christmas in July

Here’s one of my latest Desserts in Style creations: a dessert guest table with a Christmas theme.

Colors were dark chocolate, vanilla frosting, and peppermint candy – a yummy palette for a “Sweet Holiday Sparkle”. Goodies included candy cane latte, chocolate mousse, heavenly brownies and cupcakes by Sweet Cheeks Baking Company, and Italian cantucci.

Linens, chair covers and napkins were provided by Sweet Ribbon Events, as well as the tall floral centerpiece and the rhinestone and crystal accents.

SoBelle Favors added a chic touch to the place settings with single chocolates wrapped in gold and finished with a clear gem or a red rose.
