This has been one of my favorite weddings in 2012. Not only because Adrienne is my super-wonderful associate coordinator and her husband is a wonderful man (and their families were a delight to work with) but also because their celebration was full of personal details. It was hard to select just a few images to tell their story, and they are such a gorgeous looking couple!
The day started with the girls getting ready at the Bahia Hotel: Adrienne gave all of her bridesmaids plush robes by Ivory Sparrow, so soft and cozy!
Their ceremony took place at the charming Junipero Serra Museum in Presidio Park. Dr. Gail Smith officiated and laughed with the couple during their vows.
An intimate setting for a little more than 130 guests was embellished with florals by Sweet Ribbon (Adrienne specifically requested her bouquet to be all ivory with ribbon at the base of the flowers and a beautiful brooch to finish the look). Guitarist Miles Moynier provided the soft musical background.

Adrienne’s Mexican heritage was celebrated with a Mariachi band entertaining guests during cocktail hour with tasty appetizers that were catered by Casa Guadalajara.
For their reception, the couple selected the Mission Ballroom at the Bahia Hotel with a stunning view of Mission Bay. The guest list increased to over 400 for the second part of the celebration and the ballroom looked amazing! Sweet Ribbon provided all the floral arrangements (a combination of tall and low centerpieces), ivory crushed satin linens with Merlot red napkins and gold Chiavari chairs.
Several Afghan traditions and symbols were incorporated to pay homage to Morod’s culture such as the Attan (a traditional dance that was performed by the groom’s cousins wearing gorgeous outfits), the henna (placed on the couple’s palms and covered with a triangular cloth), the mirror (Adrienne and Morod were under a shawl and they would look into a mirror for the first time as a married couple), and honey tasting.
One of the most memorable moments of the night was the Father/Daughter dance: Adrienne and her father danced to a mix of songs including a romantic waltz, oldies, and hip hop. Needless to say, both bride and her dancing partner received a standing ovation from the guests!
The cake cutting was another big hit that night. Adrienne wanted a stunning tiered cake (by VG Bakery) decorated with cascading red roses (by Sweet Ribbon), and Morod wanted a groom’s cake but his request was always denied during the planning process. But, wait… Surprise! Right after Adrienne and Morod cut the wedding cake, we brought in a colorful groom’s cake and Morod was the happiest man on earth! His cake was shaped like a football field with the Dallas Cowboys logo, and finished with a basketball with the Dallas Mavericks logo on top (his favorite teams).
Dancing played a very important role at the entire reception: Morod is an excellent dancer and Adrienne never missed an opportunity to have fun on the dance floor with the guests. DJ Momentum kept the party going all night!
