What I liked about… Phoebe and Chris’ wedding

Estancia La Jolla is one of my favorite locations for memorable weddings. Phoebe and Chris chose the gorgeous resort for their reception last June, with the ceremony at the Chinese Community Church in Tierrasanta.

Phoebe’s color palette was a chic lavender and silver with orchids and roses. Look at her stunning bouquet!

She made the ceremony programs and the escort cards, all matching her favorite colors.

The ballroom looked wonderful with tall, romantic centerpieces.

Phoebe and Chris’ first dance was a surprising tango that wowed all of their guests. And that purple dress was to die for!

I was honored to be part of their wedding celebration and I wish them a lifetime filled with LOVE!

Thanks to the uber-talented David Champagne for the images!

You can see more pictures from the wedding on my website and read Phoebe’s thank-you note.

Gorgeousness at The Prado

The Prado is among my super-favorite venues in San Diego, and I’m very excited to share these pictures with you today.

I teamed up with amazing professionals to create a vibrant atmosphere with an orange, bright pink, green and white palette in the Sala Del Rey last April.

We transformed the long wooden table into an irresistible tablescape with the cutest cake ever and delicious cupcakes by CAKE (I love Kimberly!), floral arrangements to die for by Sharon at Organic Elements (visit her website and fall in love with her creations!), and Courtney at Brightly Designed put the finishing touches with labels and tags that matched the bright palette (her creativity is incredible!!!).

Take a close look at the bright pink lace detail of her tags: the same motif was incorporated into the cake decoration. An absolute work of art!

I designed each individual place setting with glossy peridot trays, decorated glass dessert plates and taffeta napkins in orange and pink shades. I also created fun ribbon wands for guests to take home (see the tutorial HERE), and I added a mini candy station with gummy orange slices, yogurt pretzels and a berry mix of Jelly Belly jelly beans. Mint-lemon iced tea was served during the lovely luncheon. My adorable French intern, Diane also helped me with setup that day.

Suzanne and Mike from SheWanders were the inspiration behind this small and intimate event and they captured all the details so perfectly, THANK YOU!

Get Inspired – Something Blue and Green

This is one of my most recent Tavolozze for a wedding that took place in April. The bride wanted to have an eco-friendly wedding with a blue accent. Here’s the final inspiration board: a lot of succulents and a cute cornflower shade for a variety of details and beautiful memories.

Get Inspired – Royal Elegance

I recently helped with the San Diego ABC‘s booth design at the April 2011 Bridal Bazaar show, and this is the Tavolozza that I created for inspiration. We put together a very chic and sophisticated theme that goes very well with the upcoming Royal Wedding (Remember, April 29 is the big date for Prince William and Kate Middleton!).

Adorable Save-The-Dates

One of my September couples just sent out their save-the-dates a few days ago, and they’re absolutely adorable!

The very talented Jenn with Pink Star Design is helping Katy and Jason with their wedding stationery: it all started with a beautiful engagement letter (mailed a few months ago) that featured a damask border, and the invitation will be designed soon.

A custom die cut was created for the luggage tag-style save-the-dates; they were made with an ivory matte thick card stock and finished with mocha and black ribbon.

The palette is – as you can see in these pictures – a combination of Kelly green and damask with mocha accents. Even the stamp is matching the color scheme!

I will unveil the Tavolozza that I created for Katy and Jason after their wedding – Stay tuned!

The Special Event 2011 – The Wedding Lunch (Part 1)

The Special Event is the largest trade show and conference in the world for event professionals like me. We make connections with thousands of key event industry colleagues, experience education by choosing among over 100 conference sessions and workshops taught by amazing speakers, and discover thousands of event products and services on the trade show floor that I can then suggest for your memorable celebrations.

The 2011 edition was hosted in Phoenix, Arizona, and one of the showcasing events was The Wedding Lunch. Sasha Souza was the key note speaker: she put together a program filled with Her Favorite Things for Weddings.

A ballroom at the Convention Center was transformed into a magical environment with more than 72 tables featuring 9 different designs. The theme was “In Love With Metallics”: the color palette included gold, silver, copper and bronze with soft peach, white and blue accents.

In addition, seven stunning wedding galleries showcased the amazing talent of designers. Here are a few pictures from each of them:

FLORAL FUSION – Design by Wendell Design Group Florist

THE GOLD STANDARD – Tailored elegance designed by Victoria Canada Weddings & Events and Wildflower Linen

BLUE HEAVEN – A dairy-dream brunch designed by Cachet Wedding Designs, Tic-Tock Couture Florals, Good Gracious Events and BBJ Linen

Thanks to Melissa Jill Photography, the sponsor photographer for The Wedding Lunch 2011, for the images.

More to come next week!

Get Inspired – Aqua & Cherry Vintage Beach

I recently helped with the San Diego ABC‘s booth design at the January 2011 Bridal Bazaar show, and this is the Tavolozza that I created for inspiration (Top left and bottom right pictures are from a stylish outdoor wedding by Courtney Toney at Joyful Weddings and Events, one of Southern California’s gems of event design – Photo credit: Boutwell Studio). The aqua and red color palette combined with beach elements is so retro and sweet!

Once Upon A Candy… Grove Pastry’s Bridal Show

Last November I was invited to participate in a small and intimate bridal show organized by Grove Pastry Shop at Riverwalk Golf Club in Mission Valley. About 60 couples attended the event that included cake tasting and one-on-one meetings with different vendors, one for each category.

LA DOLCE IDEA represented the wedding planning category, and I set up my table with a variety of sweets ranging from Jelly Beans to pina colada licorice, peanut brittle, chocolate-dipped marshmallows and honey-infused popcorn (both marshmallows and popcorn were home made).

A palette of yellow and pink was enhanced with a vintage-style brocade pink ribbon and heart-shaped tags that were sprinkled with some glitter.

Dessert tables are becoming more and more popular at wedding reception and special events: they entertain your guests and are the perfect solution for favors. LA DOLCE IDEA will provide everything you need (containers, tags, bags with ties or stickers, serving scoops and tongs, etc.) based on your color palette, theme and sweet tooth!
